What does bridge span mean?

Bridge span refers to the center distance between supporting beams or steel frames, as well as the distance between two supporting points of the bridge. The size of the bridge span not only affects the load-bearing capacity of the entire bridge, but also affects the structural form and design of the bridge. When designing the structure of bridges or high-rise buildings, in order to ensure structural stability, reliability, and economy, it is necessary to fully consider the size of the bridge span, while also taking into account the building's functional use and structural form.

When choosing the span of the bridge, multiple factors need to be considered, such as the strength of the bridge material, the stability of the supporting structure, the weight and bearing capacity of the bridge, etc. If the span of the bridge is too large, stronger materials and structural forms need to be used, which increases the weight and cost of the building; If the span of the bridge is too small, it will cause overcrowding in the building, which is not conducive to drainage and ventilation, and affect the effectiveness and service life of the building. Therefore, when designing bridge or high-rise building cable tray systems, it is necessary to comprehensively analyze various factors, determine reasonable cable tray spans, and ensure the stability, reliability, economy, and effectiveness of the building.
